What Causes Dark Brown Spotting Two Months After Childbirth?

Hi Im 35 years old and just had a baby. My son is 8 weeks old and I am currently having like dark brown stringy spotting for about a week? I have had a 16 year history of normal pap smears and found out at my 6 week check up that my pap was abnormal and positive for hpv.....could this have something to do with my dark brown spotting or is my uterus still cleaning it self out. By the way Im in great health, I eat well, work out 3 to 4 days a week, not a smoker etc...

Hi,

It is quite common and is due to minor clots that left behind after delivery.

Nothing much to worry and it will settle by itself.

If symptoms are severe, you can consult a gynecologist and get an ultrasound scan done to rule out any retained bits.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
