What Causes Crusted White Skin Growth On Shoulder?

Good morning! I have a crusted white skin growth on my shoulder and underneath the color is pink. The head of this growth is painful when rubbing against my clothing. I m fair skin with a history of skin cancer. The growth looks similar to a wart. My question is-will it do any damage if I burn it off with a wart removal kit? Sincerely, Gastonia, NC

Hello,

It could be a hyperkeratosis secondary to constant friction. As a first line management you can apply topical keratolytics like salicylate for symptomatic relief. If lesion persists better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain
