What Causes Crossed Eye Vision?

I woke up one morning seeing cross eyed. The weird thing is that my eyes looked perfectly normal. I am 62 years old and have never had any real problems with my eyes. Just that I use reading glasses for small print. Well I refused to go to the doctor and this lasted close to two months, then suddenly as it appeared it disappeared. Woke up one morning and it was gone, my vision was back to normal. I have no health issues that I am aware of and I keep pretty busy just about every day. Should I go get a check-up or is this really nothing to worry about. It s been a year already and there has been no second episode. Thank You
