What Causes Coughing Blood Tinged Sputum While Having Sore Throat And Fever?

Yes. last Friday I developed a sore throat, with white spots. Saturday it worsened with fever of 102. And major body aches. I would have bad chill spells where I would shiver uncontrollably. I went to Dr. On Monday, just said ride it out basically. So I hydrated Monday thru Wednesday night and took ibuprofen to keep fever low. Tuesday night I felt it slowly creep into my lungs. Now, being Thursday, I have taken no mess as I want an accurate temperature assessment. It is any 100.00 And every half hour or so I will cough one load of bright orange phlegm with small amounts of blood in it. Any suggestions at this point? I've already missed so much work but I still feel horrible.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms that you are experiencing can be due to influenza or flu, bronchitis, lung infection etc..
I would suggest you to consult a Pulmonologist and get evaluated and he can advise you sputum culture, chest x Ray, blood test to rule out the exact cause of the problem and treatment you accordingly..
He can advise you to take antibiotics, Anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen or Naproxen,anti allergics like Levocetrizine, decongestant like Phenylephrine,mucolytics like Ambroxol, warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and cough expectorant containing Guaifenesin and Dextromethorphan..
