What Causes Constipation While On Bifilac?

I always had a problem with my stool. In the morning, i ususally have a hard time flushing out the entire stool from my system and i need to visit toilet 2 - 3 times everyday. I always feel constipated. But Two weeks back I had diarrohea because I ate too much of chicken bbq a day before. The diarrohea lasted for 3-4 days and I was under two medication. Metron and zinc tablet. After few days I felt better but then I started getting watery diarrohea in the morning. I always need to run to the toilet 4-5 times every morning and I feel very nauseated as well. I have a really hard time in the mornings. I have been taking bifilac tablet since past week , twice a day. I got my blood and stool culture test and everything came out normal. What should I do?

hello and thank you for using healthcaremagic.

i understand your concern, as an upset bowel cant be ignored easily.
first i would recommend to take as much fluids as possible, but not something very sweet or salty. it is ideal to take oral rehydration solution(ORS) which is the primary treatment of diarrhea. It is available over the counter and is easy to prepare and drink. it is made in a way that it mimics the body fluids and easily absorved even by a diseased intestine, and also provides adequate nutrition.

as you have already taken metron(hopefully the entire course), there is a chance of a infection by a specific bacteria known as Clostridium difficile. which causes long duration of diarrhea. it shows up in culture after about 3 days of diarrhea.
it is also good that you are taking bifilac, but it is not required to take for more than a week.

So to sum up,
1. Take ORS,
2. bifilac more than a week is not necessary, also it doesn't cause constipation or diarrhea. a good and home made alternative is curd/yoghurt
3. it is advisable to do a Cl. difficle culture.

i wish you to get well soon.

hope the above information have been helpful for your query. if you have any more question please feel free to ask.
