What Causes Constipation, Smelly Urine And Hard Stool?

My 23 month old is constipated and her urine has a strong smell. Her stool is like a big rock shape and more on the hard side. She cries and screams when she has a bowel movement she clinges her legs. I ve tried purne juice and tea. I ve tried mineral oil, 1 teaspoon per 2 ounces of orange or apple juice.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
The symptoms you described may be caused by a number of things including a change of diet (solid food can jolt your baby’s digestive system, causing constipation) dehydration or a minor illness like a cold. I would suggest giving your baby extra fluid (including water), foods high in fiber: pureed or chopped apples, apricots, blueberries, grapes, pears, plums, prunes, raspberries and strawberries are all high in fiber. You could also add a small amount of high-fiber cereal to your baby’s usual breakfast cereal. If the situation doesn’t get better I suggest you to talk to your doctor about your baby’s health.
If your baby was my patient I would ask you for some more details in order to help you better:
•     When this all did start? How is it progressing since then?
•     Did your baby lose appetite and weight recently? If yes how much in what time?
•     Do you still breastfeed your baby? If not when did you stop?
