What Causes Constipation In An Infant While On Formula Milk?

hey my baby is 3 weeks old today. I have been having trouble with constipation. she was on prosobee and doing great except for the constipation. so I was told to try gentalease which is milk based and should help. but for 3 days nothing has changed. her bowel movements consist of only balls of poo. do I need to continue gentalease which is causing her to spit up nasty smelling, clear fluid or go back toprosobee since the bowel movements haven t changed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I would suggest to continue the same Gentlease. It would take some time for baby to adapt, unless your baby is irritable this will be enough. Although, I would suggest you to feed her breast milk for the first 6 months, unless you have some health issue. Breast milk is the best for a baby.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
