What Causes Constipation And Vertical Lines On The Abdomen?

Hi, im 19 years old and have had abdominal issues / constipation since birth. I was just about to go to bed when i noticed two large vertical lines from the center of my abdominal area to my side. The one is on my right side just under my ribs and the other on my left about one inch down from the first. There is pain on these spots and they are purple ish in color; I ve have these lines before but never this deep a color. Is this something i should be concerned about?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As first-line management, you can take laxatives like lactulose for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a general surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
