What Causes Constant Vaginal Bleeding After Having Nexplanon Implant?

I got my nexplanon implant in Dec 2013 since Feb 2014 i have had continuous bleeding... It seems to be finishing the starts up again a couple of days ago it stopped for 2 days then has just started again. What should I do about thing? I ve been to my gp however she just said to see how it goes... I believe the best thing to do it get it taken out or is there something else i could try?

Hello,
Thanks for letting us know your health concern. During the initial months after commencing hormone contraception, abnormal menstrual pattern is observed. As the body adjusts itself to the altered hormone milieu, the rhythm is back. In your case, the disturbance seems to be persisting for a longer period. You can try styptics for cessation of the bleeding/spotting. If there is no result and if the bleeding persists, you may have to change the mode of contraception for a more compatible one. Please see a specialist for further management. Take care.
