What Causes Constant Loud Whooshing Sounds In Head And Blurred Vision?

Hi, I m a 44 year old female. admittedly overweight. I ve been having constant loud whooshing sounds in my head for about a year now and my vision is constantly blurred. I dont tend to get headaches. I had a lumber puncture 8 months ago to check the cerebral fluid, the pressure reading was just above normal. I was told I may have suspet BIH? but there has been no definitive diagnoses. I really ned to know what is wrong with me. I have a follow up appointent this August by the way. Many Thanks Deborah

Hi,

The condition you are telling is benign intracranial hypertension. It cause due to excessive pressure of CSF in brain and that pain can be relieved for some time in lumber puncture. All you need to do is start Acetazolamide to decrease production of CSF. Continue this medicine for 3 weeks but if condition not settled than VP shunt would be the last option.
