What Causes Constant Choking On Food Along With Coughing Up Of Mucus?
For years I have had frequent coughing fits which oft times results in me coughing up a big blob of mucous. While eating food will get caught in it and I will have to throw up and there it will be in the middle of the mucous blob. I have been to allergists, ear nose & throat docs, pulmonologists and no one can seem to help. Do you have any ideas I might try? I do try to drink a lot.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have constant choking on food along with coughing up of mucus which is because of upper respiratory infection, I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. Take cough expectorants. You should use throat lozenges and go rinses with warm saline water. You should take antibiotics such as Levofloxacin or Azithromycin for 5-7 days. You should Chew a Vitamin C pellet. Take decongestants and mucolytic agents. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should get blood test done. You should get an x ray of the chest and pulmonary function tests done as well to know the exact extent of infection and can start treatment accordingly. You should take steam inhalation as well. Do chlorhexidine mouth-rinse as well. Avoid hot, sharp , spicy food substances and carbonated beverages.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
