What Causes Constant Brown Vaginal Discharge?

I have had this discharge that has been coming out of my vagina for about 3-4 months now. It s sort of like a jelly substance. It has been clear or white until this morning when it turned brown. I have looked it up and I ve been told that it s natural and can usually occur before my period so i didn t think to get it checked out. But it doesn t disappear. It s constant. Everything told me that it s normal, but if it is, why hasn t this happened before? And why did it JUST turn brown?

Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. I have gone through your query and would like to offer my opinion. In the current scenario, I would ask you to have a clinical evaluation. Local causes like erosion, infection or polyp should be excluded as the cause of the discharge. If negative, hormone imbalance should be excluded along with a sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route to know the status of the pelvic organs and plan further management. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
