What Causes Congestion In Bronchial Area?

I have an NTM MAC infection, primarily in the right lung. we initially tried Rifampin, Ethanbutol and Azithromycin but the Rifampin gave me fevers. Same with Rifabitin. Tried Amikacin tabs but the pharmacist wasn t happy with that because of my heart issues. I m now on the nebulizer version of the Amikacin along with the Azithromycin and Ethanbutol. In the past 2 weeks my bronchial area is becoming increasingly congested. I wheeze at times, but have not coughed anything up since early November. Any ideas, thoughts or feedback?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
thanks for asking your query
i completly understand you problem
in mac or non tubercular mycobacterial disease of lungs there is a bacterial infection and that infection causes increase in mucous secretion or increased edema in the infected tissue leads to leakage of exudates in the lungs that causes congestion
you shoukd continue with the drugs which are prescribed to you
do consult a pulmonologist thatvwould be more appropriate and a pulmonologist can guide you and ll adjust the drugs as per latest recommendations by american thoracic society guidelines for ntm
dont panic
thanks
feel free to ask more questions
