Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I m tired all the time. I usually get between 9-10hrs of sleep a night and I still need an alarm to wake me up. I fall asleep within 5minutes of my head hitting the pillow every night, I only wake up once to use the bathroom and fall back to sleep right away. I wake up with an alarm clock and after about 2hrs of waking up, I m tired and ready for a nap. I exercise regularly (at minimum 3 times in a week) and I eat healthy. Why am I tired all the time?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Fatigue or tiredness is caused usually due to iron deficiency anaemia. Kindly get your blood tested for the following: 1. Complete blood count (CBC) with peripheral smear examination. 2. Serum Iron and Ferritin levels with Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC). You may start immediately with iron supplementation in the form of capsules along with protein supplementation powder taken with milk. Since one of the common causes of anaemia is worm infestation, you need to take tablet Albendazole as single dose to deworm. Kindly consult Physician with the blood report for proper evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
