What Causes Chronic Cough, Post Nasal Drip, Throat Irritation And Breathing Difficulty?

I have a chronic cough, post nasal drip, irritation where my throat meets my chest and some loss of breath. It has been going on for a few years but seems to have gotten a little worst. My family Doctor thought it might be asthma and put me on an inhaler but it didn t seems to work. I ve been moving and am looking for another doctor. What type of doctor or specialist should I be looking for?

Welcome to HCM. Your symptoms are more suggestive of an allergic asthma. It could be related to the environment you live in/pets/certain food consumed/indoor or outdoor plants/think of any new changes you made within these 4 yrs which started all these. If you can find what is triggering your symptoms through an Allergy specialist, along with your new PCP/internal medicine doctor , they should be able to help you solve the issues.
Until then you can try taking OTC antihistamine tablets once every day until you are completely off the symptoms and reduce it to every other day as a maintenance dose.
Continue the inhaler when your symptoms are at the peak as it will be the life saver.
Hopefully your new place will also help with a better health. Good luck with everything. Take care.
