What Causes Throat Irritation And Post Nasal Drip?

Can I take benzonatate 200 mg with benedryl. I developed post nasal drip which is irritating my throat causing me to cough. I had a few benzonatate left from a previous prescription that had not expired. I believe the benadryl would help dry up the drip. Thanks for your help.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that post nasal drip is causing irritation in throat and it is leading to coughing bouts..
As far as benzonatate is concerned, it is a cough suppressant and can be taken to reduce cough along with anti allergics like Benadryl..
You can also take cough expectorant containing Guaifenesin..
Take mucolytics like Ambroxol and decongestant like Phenylephrine..
Do warm saline gargles and steam inhalation..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Suck throat lozenges to soothe the throat..
Sip on plenty of warm water and take a soft diet
