What Causes Chest Pain?

I had a couple of bouts of slights stabs in my heart region last night, one about 9 pm (took 1 baby aspirin) and another when I went to bed about 10:30 (took 2 regular aspirin). The pain was enough to keep me from getting to sleep, but went away with aspirin. I have been eating more salt than usual and hope I just need to cut back the salt, Otherwise, I am very healty, no high blood pressure, good weight and exercise regularly. Please advise

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to health care magic...

You have sharp stabbing pain history....

Before labelling it as muscular pain , cardiac cause should be looked for like angina or ischemic heart problem..

Your work up done with....
-Auscultation
-EKG
-Echo if needed
-angiography only if needed
-Blood pressure measurement
-cardiac troponin etc...

According to cause further treatment can be guided....

If no significant cardiac cause present only brufen will be enough...

Take care

Advise : physician consultation for examination...
