Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been sick with some sort of upper respitory infection for over a month. I thought it was getting better but then it got worse. My dr gave mea nebulizer. That did not help and I got worse. He then gave me methyl prednisone which helped the first two days but I got worse as the meds weened down. Am now on a z pack antibiotic and tomorrow is my last dose. Tonight I have developed a sharp chest pain on my left side of chest that gets worse when I inhale. This is also the side my doctor heard the wheezing from. Should I be worried? Should I go to the hospital? Ps, I am a smoker and have asthma
First of all you need to quit smoking with immediate effect. Your chest condition does not look good, you need to get yourself evaluated fully under expert guidance of a Pulmonologist or a chest physician. You need to conduct a pulmonary function test. Also your doctor has to evaluate condition of your heart as to what is causing pain as normally you dont get a pain on left side in asthma.
Praying for a speedy recovery. Thanks
