What Causes Chest Pain And Shortness Of Breath With R Waves In Ecg?

Hello,
I am a 20 year old male with no family history of heart problems. Symptoms ive had are sharp chest pain (mostly upper area and towards middle) and shortness of breath (which is relieved by burping all the time). While having these pains, i most of the time also have flatulence. These sharp pains never last long although one time i had one pain in the middle of the chest (quite sharp) for an entire night and woke up with the same pain. I dont have any other symptoms. I had an ekg done which showed sinus rhythm as well as inferior q waves. I realise that q waves represent an old heart attack, which is surprising considering ive never had a heart attack i know of. A cardiologist looked at my ecg and said they might have been wrongly interpreted, suggesting they might be r waves. can someone please put me out of misery?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you are not having any heart diseases. R wave in ecg is normal. This wave is normally present in ecg. So no need to worry for heart diseases.
And at your age of 20 years, heart diseases are unlikely.
Your all symptoms are more suggestive of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease).
It is due to laxity of gastroesophageal sphincter. Because of this the acid of the stomach tends to come up in the esophagus and cause symptoms of chest pain, gaseous distention, flatulence etc.
So avoid stress and tension. Avoid hot and spicy food. Take pantoprazole and pro kinetic drug (levosulperide). Quit smoking and Alcohol if you have these habits.
Keep 2-3 pillows under head in bed to prevent reflux.
Don't worry, with all these, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
