What Causes Changes In Menstrual Periods?

I'm 32 years old and my cycle was never regular. As a teenager I had terrible cramps which stopped when I started taking the pill. During the pill I had no breast or stomache pain. I stopped taking the pill years ago and last year i got pregnant but things didnt go as well and in the second month i found out i had a palindromic pregrancy.( I'm not sure if it's called like that in English as i live in Greece.) I had surgery and then started the pill again for 5 months. Since I stopped it again in hope of once again concieving a baby my cycle is from 28 days till 34. The last month i had no breast pain or stomach cramps and not reaaly a lot of blood, just brown stuff for 5 days which didnt even need me to wear a tampon. This is not usual as I'm usualy in pain at least a week before my period comes my breasts ache tremendously and the first 2 days of my period i have horrible cramps. I'm not pregnant because i had my test. Why has my period changed?
