What Causes Burning In Heart, Throat And Chest?

Good evening. I woke up with a dull headache and congested, so I took sudafed and went about my day. I have been having a burning feeling like heartburn most of the day. I didn t eat anything spicy or really heavy; one piece of sausage for breakfast, a salad for lunch, and ham, cheese and crackers for dinner. When I was bending over to put the laundry in the wash I felt like I could throw up, but not like nauseous, just the burning in my heart, throat and chest. Should I be concerned about dying in my sleep?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Burning sensation in heart, chest and throat is due to regurgitation of gastric contents into the esophagus and in the throat.
You need to take certain medication for the burning sensation.
Proton pump inhibitors are a group of medicines which prevent the regurgitation of gastric contents into the esophagus and hence prevent the burning sensation.
The medicine should be taken for at-least 15 days.
In the meanwhile you need to avoid spicy and fatty foods.
If you are overweight, you need to reduce body weight.
While sleeping, keep a propped up position to prevent the gastric contents from regurgitation back into the esophagus.
If the symptoms still persist after medication, you need to consult your primary healthcare provider.

Thanks and take care
