What Causes Burning After Urination?

Hi, I ve been experiencing burning when I pee for a week now. I went to the doctor and had my urine tested, but it came back inconclusive. I did another one two days ago, in case the sample was contaminated in some way, and I did a swab as well. I was on ciprofloxacin for a few days and it didn t help, so now I ve been taking macrobid for about 2 days. I m not feeling better yet. If it s not a bladder infection and I can t think of anything external that could be causing the problem (I haven t changed soap, detergent etc), what could it be? It can t be an STD either. I m waiting to hear back from my second analysis. Any ideas? I m starting to worry. Thank you for your time. Anna

Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the symptoms that you have there is no doubt that you have UTI .

The reason you did not get response even after taking Ciprofloxacin or Macrobid may be that the organisms causing UTI may not be sensitive to these drugs .

Get your routine urine test and urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.

Please take broad spectrum antibiotics like Cefotaxime along Flavoxate twice daily and urine alkalizer thrice daily .Later on switch on to appropriate antibiotics as per culture report.

Get the prescription of medicines from your family Physician.

Ensure to drink more water .To keep your urine dilute This will help to control dysuria.
