My chest xray showed mild unfolding of the thoracic aorta. As I get angina could this condition lead to a heart attack? Also there is a partial eventration of the hemidiaphragm. I am breathless get asthma and severe pain in my ribs? Could this be the cause of this? Thanks Catherine
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your situation and problem. Unfolding of aorta is normal anatomical variant. So no need to worry for this. This is not a cause for heart attack. Partial eventration of diaphragm can not cause breathlessness and severe rib pain. But uncontrolled asthma can cause these symptoms. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test). PFT will also tell you about severity of the asthma. And treatment of asthma is based on severity only. You need regular inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS). So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these. Hope I have solved your query. Wish you good health. Thanks.
