Hi I am a 23 year old diabetic i weigh 301 pounds. I have had diabetes since about 2 weeks before my 18th birthday and my diabetes has been pretty much uncontrolled since. I rarely visit the doctors office. I get 3 to 4 boils at a time i have uncontrollable weight gain, dizziness almost to the point of falling backwards. blured vision and a lump in the lower right side of my neck, and edema in my legs. can u tell me what this could be?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Uncontrolled diabetes increases the risk of infections such as boils and has a negative impact on healing.
Your uncontrolled blood sugars are likely contributing to your other symptoms as well- dizziness, blurred vision.

The edema that you are experiencing may be due to different factors such as (1)issues with the veins in the legs (2) any kidney or heart issues associated with the diabetes

It is important, though it can be difficult, for you to control your blood sugar. This would be achieved through lifestyle changes and medication.

Lifestyle changes would mainly involve (1)physical activity- start slow and increase to at least 150 minutes a week
(2)diet changes- a low carb diet may be your best option since carbs increase the blood sugar. The atkins website and low carb sites may be helpful. You should speak to your doctor before starting because your medication may need to be adjusted.

I hope this helps
