What Causes Blood Clots In Urine?

I am 73 yrs old, 5ft3, 180 lbs. I take a B/P pill daily,
one for cholestral, and one called coverall. I am
relatively healthy, no operations since I was 12 for
appendicitis. I am having blood clots in my urine for
several months now. What can be wrong. Wanda

Geriatrics Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Get an urine test done, to confirm it as blood clots.
2. Blood clots in urine usually indicates a kidney disease, however, blood clots are rarely seen. As you are reporting it frequently, also get a PT and APTT test done to check for clotting time
3. Continue your medication and take plenty of fluids. Do get the tests done for further evaluation.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
