What Causes Blockage And Hissing Sound In The Right Ear?

Doctor, I am 46 years and weigh 75kgs. I have a hearing problem with my right ear - it is blocked and I have been hearing a continuous hissing sound. I decided to purchase over the counter Cerimole drops and Augmentin tablets @ 625mg - I have used my self medication for three days. The situation did not get any better so I decided to visit an ENT specialist. The ENT Specialist examined my left ear (which was working alright) and confirmed that I have fungus and he examined my blocked right ear (which could not hear ) and confirmed the fungus to be more deeper into the ear. The ENT specialist said that the hissing is due to the wax preventing external sound and instead causing the auditory nerve to pick the sound from the circulatory pressure from brain, is this so? He has prescribed Candibiotic ear drops to be taken for 14 days, I am now on my 2 day. I have left the Ceromole and decided to take his medication of Candibiotic ear drops however I have not left taking the 625mg Augmentin so as to complete the full dose (2 daily for 7 days) is this okay? At work and at home it is warm, I use an over head fan, could this worsen the problem? Regards, Andrew

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Wax,fungal infections can sometimes cause ear block and ringing/hissing sound. As your diagnosis of fungal infection has been made my advice is to stop augmentin and continue candibiotic ear drops and follow up after 5 days.Better to avoid direct entry of wind/air in ear till the problem solves.
