I recently started having sex after a break of 8-9 months. The first 4 times I had sex with my partner it was fine. The last time I started to bleed. My most recent PAP was in January 2011 and it was normal. I do not believe I have any STDs either. There was no pain at all during or after any of the times I had sex.
Hi, I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Several causes can be related to this post-coital spotting namely, erosion of the cervix, infections of the vagina and cervix, dryness of the vagina during act leading to rough intercourse, polyps of the endometrium and cervix and so on. A proper clinical evaluation, a repeat pap smear, swabs from the vagina and cervix to test infection and a sonogram of the pelvis are needed to detect the cause and plan further management. If nothing abnormal is found and dryness is the cause, you can use K-Y jelly for lubrication. Hope this helps.
Hi Dr. Purushottam welcomes you to HCM virtual clinic! Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully gone through your query, and I think I have understood your concern. I will try to address your medical concerns and would suggest you the best of the available treatment options.
1.First of all do not panic.
2. Please ensure that you have enough of lubrication during the sex act.
Secondly, please get a gynec check up including per speculum and per vaginal examination. This will help to rule out cervical polyp or cervical erosion as a cause for post coital bleeding.
I hope this answer was helpful to you! Thanks. Dr.Purushottam Neurgaonkar
