What Causes Bleeding After Coil Implantation?

Hi I am 26 and have two children. I had a coil fitted 12 weeks ago and was perfectly fine but for the last 10 weeks I have been bleeding without a break, I have had a internal scan which show I have fibroids in my Womb but I have constant cramps down my legs and lower back, I am exshusted all the time and struggle with normal daily activities. I have had a smear and everything came back clear including STD and cervical cancer. Can anyone tell me why this could be happening? Thank you in advance!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI,
I understand your concern.
I think the coil fitted for family planning purposes by you is non hormonal.
Profuse bleeding is one of the side effect of intrauterine coil.
In addition you have fibroids which also cause profuse bleeding.
I would advise to remove the coil, try to control bleeding & then use hormonal IUD like Minera Which will prevent/stop excessive bleeding & also resolve /shrink the fibroids .
* consultation of a Gynecologist about use of the new coil will be a gynecologist's decision after examining you.
Thanks.
