What Causes Black Stool While On Medication For Blood Dysentery?

my 1 year 2 months daughter passed jet black stool today. She is under medication for blood dysentery since Monday and is taking Taxim forte and bacygil suspension. 2 days back she was passing green stool, which her current physician said is normal. Today she passed normal stool in the morning and the black one in the afternoon.

She has history of urine/stomache/ear infection in the last one year and is very thin. Though she is not presently underweight, her current weight is more than 8 KG.

Please advise!!

Although not common, Bacygil can cause black stools. The other concern with black stool, called "melena", is bleeding from the upper part of the digestive tract. If this persists or new symptoms develop, she should see a physician for a medical evaluation.
