Hello there, I hope you are a good evening. My 4 yr old is well potty trained but he stills pees him self while he is asleep. Should we see a doctor? what advise you kindly give me to deal with situation? ( I used pull ups, waking him to go potty, putting him in the potty while he is sleeping and let him pee, but still none of them has worked perfectly for a long time)
From various studies conducted over the years there can be different causes for childhood bedwetting. Some say it is because of an emotional craving (due to lack of emotional attention from the parent), some times it is is just the child getting used to the habit, bladder incontinence, etc. I would recommend a visit to a urologist to look into his case, but also make sure you stop giving him fluids to drink at least 2 and a half to 3 hours prior to his bed time, give him very small sips of water just to wet his mouth between this gap if he craves it, and take him to empty his bladder just before bed time.
Best wishes.
