What Causes Bad Smell From Vaginal Discharge?

My partner and i have been trying to conceive and recently I had a bad smell coming from my vagina discharge, I got my period for a few days (was very heavy and painful) and then once my period stopped the smell and gushing when I sat down on the toilet continued. The gushing discharge when I go to the toilet looks like it could be the semen coming back down again? But it still comes out a few days after intercourse? But what could the smell be? It's only a strong smell when I take my underwear off, I'm very hygienic and have been changing my underwear twice a day
