What Causes Back Pain After Angioplasty?

My father (54) had undergone an angioplasty with one stent placed in a vessel which was 80% blocked. Right from that surgery he is continuously getting faced with body pains especially back pain. Today early in the morning at around 3 A.M his pain (in back and abdomen area) accelerated and soon he was taken to the hospital. After confirming that it was not a kind of heart attack, he was discharged. We are about to meet the doctor tomorrow. But if it occurs again today what should be the first aid to be done? Is it normal for everyone to have this sort of back pain after angioplasty?

Dear patient
As such there is no relation between angioplasty and back pain. It may be incidental that back pain started after angioplasty. At his age causes may be 1. Lumbar spondylitis 2. Vertebral compression fracture.3 disc prolapse Is rare. So your father needs to be investigated with 1. Xray of lumbosacral spine anteroposterior and lateral views 2. MRI of lumbosacral spine with screening of whole spine. Both investigation helps to confirm diagnosis. Need to consult expert orthopaedic surgeon with report.
