What Causes Abnormal Vision In One Eye?

When I close my right eye, the left eye has an image that I consider level , that is, the two ends of a horizontal line are at the same level. If I then close my left eye and open my right eye, the image of a level line has the left end tilted downward. My ophthalmologist says it part of Macular Degeneration, but I don t think that the macula has anything to do with the positioning of the eye. Could it be a problem with the muscle or the ligaments that control the eye?
