What Causes Abnormal Kidney Function?

I had routine blood work done, and I was told kidney function was abnormal might be dehydrated since I had to fast for the blood work. So they to,d me to stop at office and they would draw more blood and check it again ( did have to fast to,d to drink normal amount of fluids). Did the recheck and results came back the same so they are suggesting to see kidney doctor. I do not urinate more then I ever did and gave a normal flow. What could be the issue?
