Hi there, I ve had my period for about a week but it was almost over when last night I noticed I was bleeding very heavily.. going through two-three tampons per hour.. this continued all night, I barely got any sleep because I was constantly having to go to the bathroom to change my tampon because the bleeding was so heavy.. this is VERY abnormal for me as I usually have light periods. I went to a clinic this morning just to make sure everything was alright and because I have no other symptoms they sent me home. I just went to the bathroom right now and took out a tampon and was bleeding heavily and I realized that there was another string there so I pulled out another tampon that I didn t know I had in already.. I never felt it at all and I have no idea how long it has been in there for. I don t feel any other symptoms and it didn t have a bad smell or anything.. but would that have caused the abnormally heavy bleeding?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Heavy bleeding is usually due to some pathology in the uterus or or can be due to endometrial hyperplasia, cancer or dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Forgotten tampon will not cause excessive vaginal bleeding, it causes foul smelling discharge, fever. I would suggest you to get your endometrial biopsy done to confirm the cause.
