What Causes Abdominal Pain, Fever And Loss Of Appetite In Children?
Both my children have got fever and tummy pain since the past couple of days. One is 2.5 and the other is 5 plus. Both have bad throats and a complete loss of appetite. Can you pls. help me with what I can give them to eat to overcome their weakness? Thanks in advance.
Hi... by what you got I feel that both your kids are having viral illness you can give them anything to eat. There are no food restrictions for viral illness like this. If there is temperature above 100 degrees Fahrenheit then you can give Paracetamol in the appropriate dose every 4th or 6th hourly.
Bad throat could also be due to the same Viral pharyngitis. But if fever and throat pain are predominant symptoms rather than cough then it could be bacterial infection also. To find this out the best office based test is to go ahead with Rapid antigen testing streptococcal infection. Then if it is positive they might require antibiotic treatment. I suggest you consult your pediatrician for this. Regards - Dr. Sumanth
