What Causes Abdominal Pain And Diarrhea?

My mother went to the Emergency room yesterday with sever abdominal pain, diarrhea, and she said her colon is contracting. They did blood work and nothing was showing and sent her home. No diagnosis. Today it is worse and she is passing a slimy light green substance in her stool. Please help. She is still having all the other symptoms.

Hi,

Diarrhoea with green slimy motions can be due to bacterial, viral infection or amoebic infection.

She needs admission &fluid replacement if shows signs of dehydration. The culture of stools would reveal exact causative organism followed by specific drug regimen viral infection settles automatically in a weeks time.

In such case fluid replacement with plenty of fluids added with salt &sugar with symptomatic treatment (like analgesic for pain in abdomen suffices). Because of the age factor, your mother needs good home care &doctor's consultation in case of no response.
