I have been experincing a hoarse voice, throat pain, swelling and bad breath for three years.... I have been diagnosed with asthma, allergies, phenmonia and strep. I have been on a numreous mounts of medication.... I am on 20mg of cetizine, astelin, fluticasone, three types of inhalers and 40 mg of prilosec.... The only thing that seems to help is steroids (which I don t want to take again). Last summer I was treated for thyroid cancer which I had no symptoms of except for my throat issues. The first ENT I saw did not take me seriously and never did a scope of my throat.....Finally he gave in and did an ultra sound of my thyroid were three nodules were found.... He did a byopse of the largest, which he saw the need to wait six months....I went and got a second oppinion the cancer was in one of the smallest noduals.... I had my first 6month check up in january where all of the tests came back negative.. during my cancer treatment I didn t notice any of the throat sensations, other during the end of my radiation treatment where I was getting sever swelling so they put me on steroids...then my symptoms came back last november... The throat issues appear every three months, and the symptoms last a month....The only constant is a sore throat...I notice that when my voice is hoarse if I smoke it causes a decrease of the hoarseness for about an hour then return.... I don t feel like I am being taken seriously by my doctors... The ent who did my thyroidectomy noticed redness and swelling in my throat but stated that she felt it was due to allergies, but I am on mega allergie meds have no other allergie symptoms but still have the throat issues.... I had a appointment for a throat specailist but my deductable is not fully paid off so my insurance is not covering the appointment and I didn t have the money to cover the appointment.....what do I do, how can I be taken seriously, it s going on the fourth year of this please help me!!!! kat
