What Causes A Sensation At The Blood Drawn Site?

I had blood drawn for yearly exam after a few vials were filled I felt a very sharp pain like a nerve was hit. I have no discoloration but I have some funny swelling bellow draw site towards the thumb I have had many blood tests but never had this problem before. Thank you Joanie P

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to a subcutaneous bleeding.

That is why it is swollen.

Pinched nerves do not cause skin swelling.

Nevertheless, it is nothing serious. You may see some skin changes in color in the next days.

But everything will resolve spontaneously.
