What Causes A Lump And Left-sided Breast Pain?

I woke up with pain in my left breast this morning. It hurt even worse to the touch. When I looked there was redness near my nipple and I could feel a lump near it. As the day progressed a vein that leads from my neck/collarbone area to the lump is turning black and blue. I have also been feeling under the weather. Body aches, soar throat etc... the pain in my breast is pretty bad. About a 5/6 on the pain scale. Any thoughts? Thank you for your help.

Hi.

Thank you for reaching out to Health Care Magic.

There are several reasons for pain in the breasts. Breast pain may be seen with the following -
Breast injury
Infection
Mastitis or not breast engorgement
Cancers - rare

The other symptoms of body aches, soreness in the throat may point towards a flu or a viral fever. Most viral fevers present with similar symptoms. Often, trying the following can help with viral fevers -
Drink lots of water
Take over the counter painkillers or fever medication
Sleep more than 8 hours a day
Eat a high fiber and high energy diet
Get lots of rest
Take warm showers

Icing the breasts, and using warm compresses over the area may be useful as well.

I hope this helps. Please reach out to me if you have any other questions.
