What Causes STD?
Me and my boyfriend have been going together for three years and today I found out I contracted a STD . He said he has not been messing around . We don't use condoms because I'm on birth control . I was wondering if that can cause an STD if we are not sleeping with other people.

STD's or Sexually transmitted diseases can transmit between sexual partners only if one of the sexual partners carries an infection.
STD's are less likely if you have always had sex with only with one partner and your partner has always had sex only with you. Protection or no protection, it does not matter in this scenario.
However, if either of you have had different sexual partners either now or previously then it is likely to get an STD even without obvious sores or symptoms suggestive of STD's; many STD's e.g genital warts, molluscum contagiosum, herpes genitalis may remain clinically silent and individuals may not be aware of these and therefore may knowingly transmit to others.
I suggest you to visit a sexual health specialist and discuss in more detail about various STD's and measures to prevent transmission of STD's
