Does Smoking Cause Swelling In Tonsils?

smoking causes swollen tonsils? i also had safe sex with a prostitute 6 months ago can this be a syntom of STD or HIV ? or my swollen tonsils are from smoking? i have had no hiv or std symptoms but im still woried, i also have my under the nech glands a little swollen is this caused for smoking or do i have hiv or an std? (i used condom)

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swollen tonsils can occur due to smoking as cigarette smoke can cause inflammation and swelling of tonsils due to smoke and chemicals that can cause irritation.
Secondly it can also occur due to STD but is associated with other symptoms.
HIV can however take years to become symptomatic and in case if you are exposed 6 months back then it is not appearing to be apparently due to HIV..
I would suggest you to first of all stop smoking..
You should start doing warm saline gargles, suck throat lozenges and also take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
In case if there is still no resolution, consult an ENT expert and get evaluated.
