My 17 year old daughter spent 3 weeks in remote areas of Costa Rica last summer. She came back with horseness that has not gone away in over 3 months.WE have gone to E.N.T. and what really makes me curious is that this never happened before for her trip and it started right after this trip where they were eathing things that weren't cooked like we were used to and exposed in the rainforest. I know it is low on the list of causes of Laryngitis, but could she have a parasite that is causing the horseness.... Would that be seen by the scope that the E.N.T. did? Could a parasite
be causing GERD?
(also, probably unrelated she develoved a series of purple unexplained bruises on her leg which went away in a couple of weeks)
She went to a E.N.T. who did a scope, and found some inflamtion related to contact with her inhaled steroid
and identified a post nasal drip. He prescibed allegra, and we stopped advair and dr. had her start taking prilosec.
