What Causes Asperger S Syndrome?

Yes, hello! The Psychologist that I am presently seeing has therefore diagnosed me with Asperger s Syndrome. Just what exactly does Asperger s have to do with why I am so horrendously friendless and have never at all even had just one single date within the course of my forty eight years of living? Believe me when I say that I literally cannot get through even just one single day without having a meltdown. And I also have EXTREMELY strong thoughts of wanting absolutely nothing more than to very much end my life because the very severe loneliness and emptiness get way too much for me to be able to bear! Needless to say that I am brutally terrified with feeling this way! And also could you please explain to me just what exactly Asperger s Syndrome is? My psychologist did tell me that once I explained to him that I do not have any friends, have never, ever dated, have been very wickedly bullied all throughout my school years, and am very much a loner, that these are the primary reasons of Asperger s Syndrome. Would you agree with him? And if you do would you please elaborate, or do you have a totally different definition of this mental illness? If you do, then would you please let me know jyst exactly what it is? Please get back to me just as soon as you possibly can, because I cannot even begin to tell you just how wickedly severely terrified I am with feeling this way! My feelings/emotions are so way beyond tearing me up inside! Thank you so incredibly much, and I really do look forward to be hearing from you real, real soon! Please take care! Warmest Regards Always! Susan M. Raring. My email address is YYYY@YYYY . My physical address is 1559 Schoenersville Road, Bethlehem, PA 18018-1920. Thank you so much again! If you could please send your response to my physical address or even call me, my cell phone number is (610) 570-2708. Only because I am having some difficulty with my email, and gave not been having much luck with getting the problem resolved yet! Thanks a lot, I really do very greatly appreciate it!

Hello. Asperger’s syndrome (AS) is one of a group of neurological disorders known as autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). AS is considered to be on the mild end of the spectrum. People with AS exhibit three primary symptoms:

1. difficulty with social interaction
2. engaging in repetitive behavior
3. rigidity in thinking and a focus on rules and routines

Some people with ASDs are classified as high-functioning. High-functioning autism means that these individuals do not have the delayed language acquisition and cognitive development that is typical of many people with ASDs.

There is no cure for AS syndrome. However, there are various treatments that can reduce symptoms of the disorder and help your child reach their full potential. Treatment is often based on the specific symptoms.

Medications are often used to treat AS symptoms. Examples include:

1. aripiprazole (Abilify) to reduce irritability
2. guanfacine (Tenex), olanzapine (Zyprexa), and naltrexone (ReVia) to reduce hyperactivity
3. selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) to reduce repetitive behaviors
4. risperidone (Risperdal Consta) to reduce agitation and insomnia

Medication can be helpful for controlling problematic behaviors, if they occur in AS. However, there are other treatments that can improve communication skills, emotional regulation, and social interaction. Many with AS also receive:

1. social skills training
2. speech and language therapy
3. occupational therapy
4. physical therapy
5. cognitive behavioral therapy
