ON READING ABOUT ASPERGERS SYNDROME, IT MOSTLY TALKS ABOT CHILDREN. I JUST READ AN OBITUARY WHERE A WOMAN CHOSE TO END HER LIFE. SHE WAS ABOUT 50 YEARS OLD AND WAS JUST DIAGNOSED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. IS IT COMMON TO BE DIAGNOSED LATER IN LIFE?

Asperger syndrome is mostly due to genetic defect. There is tendency for Aspergers Syndrome to run in families.
A few cases have been also linked to exposure to teratogens (agents that cause birth defects) during the first eight weeks of pregnancy from conception.

Yes It is common for aspergers syndrome to be diagnosed later in life. Diagnosis is most commonly made between the ages of four and eleven. Diagnosis is delayed by the fact that patient has difficulties with social interaction, language, or reading & nothing physical
