What Cause Abdominal Pains And Contractions With Loose Motions During Pregnancy?

I am 38 weeks 5 days pregnant and have been having abdominal pains and some contractions and I have passed some greeny, greyish, black, runny poo's (sometimes without realising when I pee) and my 10 year old brother has also had some diarrhoea this has been going on for 3 days now, can you help?

Thank you for the question. Here are my thoughts:

I am assuming that what you are describing is NOT coming from the vagina. If there is any concern that this greenish, thick stool is coming from the vagina, then you need immediate attention as it would represent something called meconium staining of the amniotic fluid OR a sign that the baby is in a 'butt down' position. Otherwise, at your gestational age, changes in bowels can be a sign of labor. It does not sound like an illness such as what your 10 year old brother has as the description you are giving is not diarrhea. I would not worry too much, but please call your OB Provider for further guidance.

I hope that this helps and good luck!
