I have have chronic ear infections since I was a little girl. I had my first surgery at 16 and another surgery about 5 years ago. The surgeries were due to having holes in my eardrums. I have recently had a middle ear infection. Went to the doctor and was given an antibiotic. It has come back, but much worse. I am now draining pus that has a small odor to it and am in a lot of pain. What could possibly be going on?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain the symptoms of pus discharge from ears with bad smell along with ear ache seems to be due to infection in ear and you need to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated.. He can advise you antibiotics like Augmentin or Cephalexin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, steroids and oral and nasal decongestants like Pseudoephadrine.. He can also do manual drainage of pus for faster resolution of infection.. You should avoid popping the ears.. Limit water exposure to ears like in swimming.. Do not try to pick the ears to prevent damage to eardrum.. Take Ibuprofen for pain..
Hope this information helps..
