What Can Cause Pain Swallowing And A Swollen Throat?
My adams apple sore on left. seems like slight shift to right. swelling inside throat & painful. difficult to swallow. takes me 2-4 times to swallow spit in certain positions. concerned about sleeping with difficulty swallowing spit. liquids and anything else goes down on first try but painful. does this sound like broken or bruised? no external bruising. thank you.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Note your history of swelling on side of hte Adam's apple, painful deglutition (swallowing), The commonest cause of such a problem is swelling in the para-pharyngeal space, meaning a potential space causing all such a problem. I would advise you the following: First of all to get an endoscopy done so that the internal extent of the swelling can be known. MRI of the Neck to know the exact diagnosis. Proper treatment with an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicines and if required surgical evacuation if the abscess has already developed.
