What Can Cause Lack Of Sex Drive?

My man & I have not had sex in at least 3 months. I have absolutely zero sexual drive/desire. I ve been on BCP for 20 years, just had basic bloodwork done (waiting on results), have an appt with a gyn in a few weeks. I ve never been a very sexual person to start with but it s never been this bad. It is negatively effecting our relationship to the point of us seeking counseling. Any thoughts?!

Hello,

You are suffering from loss of libido. You have history of being on BCP since 20 years. Birth control pills when used for a long period can affect your libido as they interfere with your normal hormonal function. Get clinically examined by a Gynae, you may need HRT. Stress, anger and anxiety can kill the mood. If you are very conscious of your body and you don't like your looks, it may be hard to enjoy sex.

Low estrogen due to peri menopausal or menopause cause vaginal dryness and may cause painful sex due to the thinning of the vaginal tissues. This is another reason why women loose interest in sex. No one is likely to be interested in intimacy if it hurts, us water based vaginal lubricants for a better sexual experience. Try to boost your libido by eating dark chocolate, almonds, pumpkin seeds, shellfish, etc. If you are suffering from thyroid problem, it can kill your libido. Get T3, T4 and TSH done. You will be accordingly treated.

Hypothyroidism leads to depressed mood, as well as reduced arousal and desire. Get treated. Other medical conditions that may cause loss of libido are diabetes and obesity. Maintain healthy weight, do regular walking and workouts. Control your blood glucose level at all cost. Stay away from addictions if any. Take vitamin E rich food or supplements.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
