What Can Cause Crunching Noise In Hip Joint On Bending?

Hello, During a strenuous workout where I was performing weighted lunges, I experienced pain in my right hip, possibly in the sartorius muscle. Three hours later, I am noticing a crunching noise when I bend my hip past 90 degrees, though there is no pain associated with the movement. Can you provide possible causes and precautions? Thank You! Thomas

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The crunching noise in the hip joint can be due to a decrease in the joint lubricants or due to osteoarthritic changes in the hip. An MRI scan of the hip will help in proper diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Praveen Tayal, Orthopaedic Surgeon
